The Ruts - Staring At The Rude Boys

|

On this date in 1980, The Ruts released their fifth single, "Staring At The Rude Boys". It was backed by "Love In Vain". Both tracks appeared on their second album, Grin & Bear It which was a compilation of single tracks and live performances that had not been captured on their debut, The Crack. The single reached the #22 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London reggae-influenced punk band released two albums before the heroin overdose death of lead singer Malcolm Owen on July 14, 1980. They tried to carry on under a new name, Ruts DC, with very limited success and disbanded in 1983.
