New Order - Blue Monday

In March of 1983, New Order released their fifth single, "Blue Monday". It was backed by "The Beach". It was a 12 inch release. The A side didn't appear on an album until the 1987 compilation, Substance. The B side did not even appear on that though it was added as a bonus track on a later CD re-release. The single reached the #9 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Manchester, England post punk/new wave band rose from the ashes of Joy Division which suddenly ground to a halt when singer Ian Curtis hung himself. The band continues on despite the departure of Gillian Gilbert in 2005 and Peter Hook in 2007.
