The Jam - News Of The World

On this date in 1978, The Jam released their fourth single, "News Of The World". The B sides were "Aunties And Uncles (Impulsive Youths)" and "Innocent Man". None of the tracks originally appeared on a regular studio album but all three were bonuses on their third album, All Mod Cons, when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #27 spot on the U.K. singles chart, making it four for four in the top 40 for the Woking, England punk/mod band. By the time they disbanded in 1982, they would reach the #1 spot four times. And yes, Bruce Foxton sings the lead on this single. Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler have toured together as The Jam since. Paul Weller has no interest in the revival.
