Generation X

On this date in 1978, Generation X released their self-titled debut album. It contained the single, "Ready Steady Go" (#47 U.K.). The U.K. and American versions of the LP were different. The U.K. version had three songs, "Listen", "The Invisible Man" and "Too Personal", that were not on the U.S. version. The U.S. version had four songs, "Wild Youth", "Wild Dub", "Your Generation" and "Gimme Some Truth", that were not on the U.K. version. The first three U.S. special songs had been single sides in the U.K. "Gimme Some Truth" was never released at all in the U.K. The London punk band disbanded in 1981 after three albums. Tony James founded Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Billy Idol danced with himself.
