Tom Robinson Band - Rising Free EP

On this date in 1978, Tom Robinson band released their debut EP, a 7-inch called Rising Free. The highlight track was "Glad To Be Gay", a song that Tom Robinson wanted to release as a single earlier but was put off by the record company. The other tracks were "Don't Take No For An Answer", "Martin" and "Right On Sister". All four tracks were recorded live. The EP made it to the #18 spot on the U.K. singles chart. It was later included free with their Power In The Darkness album but as a 12 inch record. The London punk/power pop band disbanded after two albums. Tom Robinson founded Sector 27 after the break-up. The band has re-formed for some reunion shows. Drummer Dolphin Taylor later joined Stiff Little Fingers.
