John Cooper Clarke - Gimmix, Play Loud!

On this date in 1979, John Cooper Clarke released his third single, "Gimmix, Play Loud!". It was backed by "I Married A Monster From Outer Space". Versions of both songs appeared on his debut album, Ou Est La Maison De Fromage?. John Cooper Clarke was a punk poet from Manchester, England, whose poems would often, but not always, be set to background music. And, oh yes, this single actually was hexagonal in shape. He opened for such bands as Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols, Joy Division and The Fall.

He isn't dead! Johnny Clarke is still very much alive and writing and performing!

A few years ago I made a cheesy pastiche 70's Xmas single and asked Johnny Clarke if he would voice the Fairy on the Tree for me. He very kindly agreed and can be heard introducing the recording as the somewhat sinister fairy. I just had it remastered and have put it on iTunes for your listening pleasure. Merry Xmas!
