Generation X - Ready Steady Go

On this date in 1978, Generation X released their third single, "Ready Steady Go". It was backed by "No No No". The A side appeared on their self-titled debut album. The B side was a non-LP track. The single reached the #47 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London punk band was formed by Billy Idol, Tony James and John Towe, all of whom left punk band Chelsea before it was time to record. They lasted until 1981 with three albums to their credit. Tony James went on to form Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Billy Idol...well...we know what he did after this.
