On this date in 1977, Chrysalis released Blondie's self-titled debut album. It was originally released a few months earlier by their previous label, Private Stock. The album contained the singles, "X-Offender", "Rip Her To Shreds" and "In The Flesh". None of the singles made any noise on either side of the Atlantic but the New York City punk/new wave band would have several #1 singles before they disbanded in 1982. They re-formed in 1998 and continue to perform and record.
