Saturday Night Home Cinema

For 2009 I think we'll try a new feature on the P5 called
"Saturday Night Home Cinema"
We'll feature a P5 related movie plus the soundtrack.
...What do you guys think??? COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

We'll kick it off with this one.

"Sid and Nancy, originally titled Love Kills, is a 1986 film directed by Alex Cox. The film materialized during a time of renewed interest in the period of punk rock, heroin addiction and specifically the life of Sid Vicious. It stars Gary Oldman as Vicious and Chloe Webb as his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen."

Sid and Nancy is not a punk rock movie. The movie is to historically and factually incorrect. What it is however, is a misfit love story of high order made possible by the deft acting of Oldman and Webb. They created a chaotic chemistry that actually made you care about a couple of myopic douchebags. The dumpster sequence is beautiful visual filmmaking.

Great movie -- haven't seen it in a while.

Favorite line (from memory): "Sid! What about the 'Goodbye drugs'?"
