Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Maid Of Orleans

On this date in 1982, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark released their seventh single, "Maid Of Orleans". It was backed by "Navigation". The 12 inch version added a third track, "Experiments In Vertical Takeoff". The A side appeared on their third album, Architecture & Morality. The two supporting songs were non-LP tracks. "Navigation" was added as a bonus track on a subsequent re-release of the CD but "Experiments In Vertical Takeoff" was not. The single reached the #4 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Cheshire, England new wave band was led by Paul Humphreys (ex-Dalek I Love You) and Andy McCluskey. When Humphries left in 1989, McCluskey kept the band going until 1996. They have recently re-formed with the classic line-up.

"Experiments In Vertical Takeoff" does not appear on this 12" despite being listed on the sleeve - in fact, as far as I'm aware it was never been released...
