Buzzcocks - What Do I Get?

|

On this date in 1978, Buzzcocks released their second single, "What Do I Get?". It was backed by "Oh Shit". The single had been delayed because not enough of the records were pressed. The workers at the factory commissioned to press the records took offense to the title of the B side. Obviously, they were not the same workers who willingly pressed their first single, "Orgasm Addict". Neither track appeared on a regular studio release initially but they were on the 1979 singles compilation, Singles Going Steady. They were also added to their debut, Another Music In A Different Kitchen, when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #37 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Manchester, England punk band called it quits in 1981 but re-formed in 1989 and have been at it ever since. Of the original lineup, only Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle remain.
