Go-Go's - We Got The Beat

|

On this date in 1981, Go-Go's re-released their first single, "We Got The Beat". It was backed by "Skidmarks On My Heart" in the U.K. and "Can't Stop The World" in the U.S. It had originally been released in 1980 with "How Much More" as the B Side. The new version of "We Got The Beat" was re-recorded. The A side and all of the B sides were on their debut album, Beauty And The Beat. The single reached the #2 spot on the U.S. singles chart. The Los Angeles new wave all-girl band broke up in 1985 but re-formed in 1990 and are still performing.
