The Police - Outlandos d'Amour...and...So Lonely

On this date in 1978, The Police released their debut album, Outlandos d'Amour. It contained the singles, "So Lonely", "Roxanne" (#12 U.K., #32 U.S.) and "Can't Stand Losing You" (#42 and #2 on the U.K. singles chart - it was released twice). The album reached the #6 spot on the U.K. albums chart and the #23 spot on the U.S. albums chart. The London new wave band released four more albums before disbanding in 1984, all of which reached the #1 spot in the U.K. They reunited to tour last year and have done some touring this year as well.



Also on this date in 1978, The Police released their fourth single, "So Lonely". It was backed by "No Time This Time". The A side appeared on their debut album, Outlandos d'Amour. The B side was a non-LP track. This was the last of their releases that wouldn't chart.
