Pere Ubu - 30 Seconds Over Tokyo

On this date in 1975, Pere Ubu released their debut single, "30 Seconds Over Tokyo". It was backed by "Heart Of Darkness". Neither track appeared on their 1978 debut album, The Modern Dance, both both tracks appeared on the their 1978 EP, Datapanik In The Year Zero. The avant-garde/proto punk band from Cleveland, Ohio was formed after Rocket From The Tombs broke up. Dave Thomas and Peter Laughner formed Pere Ubu while fellow Rocket From The Tombs band members, Cheetah Chrome and Johnny Blitz, founded The Dead Boys. Pere Ubu continues to release music.
