Madness - One Step Beyond

On this date in 1979, Madness released their debut album, One Step Beyond. It contained a re-recorded version of their single, "The Prince" (#16 U.K.) plus their singles, "One Step Beyond" (#7 U.K.) and "My Girl" (#3 U,K.). The album reached the #2 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The London ska band called it quits in 1986 but re-formed in 1992 and is still intact.



On this date, they also released their second single, "One Step Beyond". It was backed by "Mistakes". The 12 inch version included a third song, "Nutty Theme". The A side was on the debut by the two additional tracks were not.
