On this date in 1978, Johnny Thunders released his first solo album, So Alone. It included the single, "(You Can't Put Your Arms Around A) Memory". Johnny Thunders was, of course, in The New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers before this solo effort. He had an all-star lineup of musicians helping him with this album including Steve Jones and Paul Cook of The Sex Pistols, Peter Perrett of The Only Ones, Walter Lure and Billy Rath of The Heartbreakers and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders.

A feast of sloppy junkie gems from JT and a diaspora of the good and the (mostly) dead. Every time I read or hear the name Johnny Thunders I picture this album cover and always think of it before the NY Dolls or the Heartbreakers for some reason......
Agreed. This is a GREAT album, from the smokin' Pistol-driven version of "Pipeline" through the sublime "You Can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory," through the "do Cook & Jones know how much piss is being taking out of them even as they pull out all the stops behind Johnny Rot-, er, Thunders on...""London Boys" through the great remake of "Subway Train."
'Nough said.
Steve Marriott of The Small Faces contributed vocals (in duet style) to Daddy Rollin' Stone. Wether he was sampled or actually appeared in studio I don't know.
