On this date in 1981, The Sound released their third 7-inch record. The A side was "Sense Of Purpose (What Are We Going To Do?)". It was backed by "Point Of New Return". The A side appeared on their second album, From The Lion's Mouth. The B side did not. The London post-punk band had originally been called The Outsiders. They disbanded in 1988 after releasing six albums and several singles and EP's. Lead singer and songwriter Adrian Borland committed suicide in 1999.
