We're slackers...

We don't update The P5 every day like we used to. So when we slack off, just use the search box up there on the right. Yeah, the red box, that's it. Search The P5 Archives. You'll be glad you did.

The Residents - Eskimo

|

On this date in 1979, The Residents released their sixth album, Eskimo. It was a six track album with a theme---their version of life in the arctic complete with inuit sounds. No singles were released from the album. Oddly enough, when the album was re-released on CD, four bonus tracks were added, none of which had anything to do with life in the arctic. The San Francisco avant-garde band began in Shreveport, Louisiana but moved to San Francisco early on. They continue to release music.

A cliche to say it, but this is an album that everyone should hear once, especially if you like a barren Arctic vibe. I discovered it only a few years ago and fell in love with it, sometimes play it out of the car at a good volume driving through the city.
