On this date in 1981, The Minutemen released their second EP, Joy. Aside from the title track, the EP included "Black Sheep" and "More Joy". And, living up to their name, the three tracks totalled 3 minutes and four seconds in length. The San Pedro, California hardcore punk band broke up in December, 1985 when guitarist D. Boon was killed in a van accident.

Wonderful band... probably would still be going if it wasn't for obvious tragedies!!! Buzz And Howl Under The Influence Of Heat ('83) is pretty much my favourite release of theirs... I think Double Nickels ('84) is overblown and there's too much unnecessary filler on it... I understand it was simply a joke exercise in keeping up with Husker's Zen Arcade but it makes an otherwise great record a pain in the ass to listen to. Even the Merch era records that the punk purists hate are great... esp. 3-Way Tie ( For The Last )!!!
Yeah boz. I played the heck out of Buzz And Howl when it came out. I still have the vinyl.
