On this date in 1981, Ian Dury released his fourth post-Kilburns album, Lord Upminster. It included the single, Spasticus Autisticus, a controversial song released in the Year Of The Disabled. Dury, who had polio as a child, thought that the concept of this "recognition" was demeaning and sought to bring attention to this through the song. The London punk/post-punk band disbanded in 1981. After a solo career, Dury worked again with The Blockheads before his death on March 27, 2000.
