Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle

On this date in 1979, Gary Numan released his debut solo album, The Pleasure Principle. It contained the singles, "Cars" (#1 U.K., #9 U.S.) and "Complex" (#6 U.K.). The album reached the #1 spot on the U.K. albums chart and the #16 spot on the U.S. albums chart. The London new wave musician continues to record and tour.

Wow, didn't realise he achieved such high chart placing in the US. They were relatively accessible pop songs I guess but I would have thought still too weird sounding for US mainstream.

Me too, my favourite tracks are Metal, Films and Engineers but the whole album is great. Films just blows my mind.
