On this date in 1979, The Dickies released their sixth single, "Nights In White Satin". It was backed by "Waterslide". The A side appeared on their second album, Dawn Of The Dickies. The B side appeared on their first album, The Incredible Shrinking Dickies. The single reached the #39 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Los Angeles punk band made a habit of taking covers and playing them at 100 miles per hour! They are still performing.

Hooray! First punk rock song I ever heard was "Poodle Party" on a college radio station. I've been hooked ever since, even put out a licensed Dickies skateboard. LOVE the Dickies.

Sorry for the double post. Part of the reason I really liked them was my dad used to crank that Moody Blues album, Days of Puture Past, so to hear it all "punked" up was especially funny to me at the time. Of course, now when I listen to Days of Puture Past my wife says it's weird and gives her a headache.
ROTFL over that sleeve pic! How lame-o! The 2 copies I own have the KKK picture sleeve :)

We don't take the pictures...the band and/or their record companies do. We sometimes have a choice with the sleeves we post. This time, we chose this.
Huh - had no idea it had been withdrawn by A&M. It's not like in 1979 anyone gave a shit. The PC police arrived later. A better pic.

There were certainly more "offensive" covers at this time. Censorship has always been a flavor of the month thing. They change their targets without rhyme or reason and overlook what may have disturbed them the month before. Curious bunch.
