On this date in 1982, Captain Sensible released his debut solo album, Women And Captains First. It contained the singles, "Wot!" #26 U.K.), "Happy Talk" (#1 U.K.) and "Croydon". He didn't quit his day job. He continued to be the bass player for The Damned.

Aahh...'wot' a great album this was, one of the first in my record collection (back then the pocket money had to be well spent! :-)
I also have the very rare follow-up CD version of "The Power Of Love" on my blog at 'http://feelinkindafroggy.blogspot.com'.
And while we're on the subject, this is such a great blog here which I visit very often, and I would be extremly grateful if you could add my blog to your list if possible..
It's hard to fault the Capt.!!! He's always embodied punk rock to the max, even when his solo recordings strayed elsewhere... CROYDON is a psychedelic masterpiece!!! - Him rejoining the Damned a few years back was the best thing that ever happened to that band... they can do it without Scabies ( although technically it was HIS band ) but not without Sensible!!!
Saw them last at xmas and the Captain is still a great showman!!
I got what I think is their most recent - Grave Disorder a few months ago and really liked it.

The captain is certainly one of a kind!
Mookie...check out Tydalwave's site: http://feelinkindafroggy.blogspot.com.
There's some great stuff there!
Cool, I just added it to the blogroll list (which needs some cleanup this weekend)
