On this date in 1981, Bananarama released their debut single, "Aie a Mwana". It was backed by a dub version of the A side called "Dubwana". The A side appeared on their 1983 debut album, Deep Sea Skiving. The single got no further than the #92 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The London new wave band is still intact though one original member, Siobhan Fahey, left in 1988.

Thanks been looking for their cover of No Feelings for ages. Paul Cook plays on this I think, I like their hopelessly amateur early singing style. Keren is a goddess.
I know Paul produced this record but I don't think he played on it. Maybe I'm wrong.
Yes...Keren is a goddess. I always had a thing for her.
Yeah, I heard she's been with Andrew Ridgely for years apparently. Wish I still had my Smash Hits posters.
Yes, she has been with Andrew Ridgely for years. The hell with the posters! I wish I could be Andrew Ridgely for a few hours!
Hell yeah ..and on top of that he'd have a full set of those posters as well, lucky sod
Yes, the posters...during the "pause for air" and "recovery" phases.
Wonder if she likes bananas. Go easy though that can be a bit tacky..
