Altered Images - Happy Birthday

On this date in 1981, Altered Images released their debut album, Happy Birthday. It contained the singles, "A Day's Wait" and "Happy Birthday" (#2 U.K.). The album reached the #26 spot on the U.K. albums chart. The Glasgow, Scotland new wave band, led by Clare Grogan, released three albums before disbanding in 1983. Bassist Johnny McElhone formed Hipsway after they disbanded.
