On this date in 1981, The Pretenders released their eighth and nineth singles. In The U.S., they released "Louie Louie". In the U.K., they released "Day After Day". Both tracks appeared on their second full-length album, Pretenders II. The B side of both was a non-LP instrumental called "In The Sticks". "Day After Day" reached the #45 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Hereford, England punk/new wave band still records and performs.
