Modern English - Smiles And Laughter

On this date in 1981, Modern English released their fourth single, "Smiles And Laughter". It was backed by "Mesh And Lace". Neither song appeared on an album originally (not even the B side, despite their debut album being called Mesh And Lace), but both were included on the debut album as bonus tracks when it was re-released on CD. The Colchester, England post punk/new wave band first disbanded in 1986. They have reunited to record and perform a few times since.
