On this date in 1978, Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers released their seventh single, "Abdul & Cleopatra". It was backed by "Oh Carol". The A side appeared on their fifth album, Back In Your Life. The B side was a non-LP track. The Boston, Massachusetts proto-punk band once included drummer David Robinson (who left to join The Cars) and Jerry Harrison (who left to join Talking Heads). While The Modern Lovers no longer exist, Jonathan Richman is still performing.
