On this date in 1982, Black Flag released their sixth 7-inch record. It was "TV Party". It was backed by "I've Got To Run" and "My Rules". The A side appeared on their album debut, Damaged, but this was a re-recorded version. The other two tracks were non-LP tracks. The Los Angeles hardcore punk band had seen lead vocalists come and go. On this single, former singer and present guitarist Dez Cadena and new voacalist Henry Rollins handled the vocals. They disbanded in 1986.

I have a confession to make -- I cannot stand Black Flag. I think their supposedly landmark album, Damaged, is grossly overrated.
I dig Henry Rollins and like some of his solo stuff. I wish someone could explain why Damaged gets all this praise.
Well...to each their own. I happen to like them and Damaged a lot. I saw them live and that did nothing to detract from my admiration of this band but, like any other band, not everyone likes them.
Still one of my favorite albums of all time, even though I rarely listen to stuff like this anymore. I remember getting this single in the mail from SST when it came out (actually found the receipt a few years back!). A rare artifact from the SST/Unicorn/MCA dalliance!
