Section 25 - Girls Don't Count

|

On this date in 1980, Section 25 released their debut single, "Girls Don't Count". It was backed by "Knew Noise" and "Up To You". None of the tracks appeared on an album but all were added as bonuses to their debut album, Always Now, when it was re-released on CD. Section 25 was a post-punk band from Blackpool, Lancashire, England who disbanded in 1986. They recorded on the Factory Records label, the same label as A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, Joy Division and New Order. The band has done some recent performances.

This is a great 12" - the cover of my one is different though, it is dark blue. What a shame Jenny Cassidy died, I just got their new album and she was only able to complete vocals on two tracks. Chris N.

I really liked their early stuff a lot.

Fantastic record. This is the 7" sleeve which was designed by Peter Saville, now a collectors item. I have one of the dark blue 12" singles, there were three of them each depicting one of the girlfriends of the band members.
