On this date in 1979, The Cure released their second single, "Boys Don't Cry". It was backed by "Plastic Passion". Neither track appeared on a U.K. album release but, in the U.S., The Cure's first album was entitled Boys Don't Cry and included both sides of the single, most of the Cure's debut album, Three Imaginary Boys, and some other non-LP singles. This was released in 1980. The Sussex, England post punk/goth/new wave band continues on with Robert Smith at the helm.
In 1986, The Cure re-mixed and re-released "Boys Don't Cry" as a single and it reached the #22 spot on the U.K. singles chart.
