Cuddly Toys - Madman

On this date in 1980, Cuddly Toys released their first single under their new name. It was "Madman" and was backed by "Join The Girls". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Trails And Crosses. The A side was actually written by Marc Bolan (of T Rex) and David Bowie but unreleased. The London band used to be called Raped, a non-marketable name to say the least. After a few years they changed their name to Cuddly Toys, shifted towards being a cross-dressing glam punk/new wave act (instead of a pure punk band) and, in the process, alienated their original fans. However, Cuddly Toys was big in Japan. They were done under either name by 1982.
