On this date in 1980, The Clash released "Train In Vain" backed by "Bankrobber". The single was not released in the U.K., but was distributed throughout most of Europe and the U.S. The U.S. version had "London Calling" as the B side instead. Both U.S. sides were on the Clash's third album, London Calling. "Bankrobber" was a non-LP track but was captured on the 1980 Clash compilation, Black Market Clash, which captured their non-LP B sides and some odds and ends. The single reached the #23 spot on the U.S. singles chart. The London punk band disbanded in 1986.
