On this date in 1978, Nick Lowe released his ninth single, "Little Hitler". It was backed by "Cruel To Be Kind". The A side appeared on his debut U.K. album, Jesus Of Cool, as well as his debut U.S. album, Pure Pop For New People. The B side did not. The B side was re-mixed and released as a single later to much success (#12 U.K.). The B side was included on his second album, Labour Of Lust. The power pop singer from Surrey, U.K. was teamed up with Dave Edmunds in Rockpile and much of the music credited to either Dave Edmunds or Nick Lowe was actually a collaborative effort as Rockpile. Due to contractual obligations, they had to release the material under one or the other's individual names.
