Discharge - Why

On this date in 1981, Discharge released their fourth EP, Why. It was hard to categorize this as a true EP. It contained 10 songs and was a 12 inch record. However, it played at 45 rpm speed and the 10 songs clocked in at a whopping total of about fifteen minutes. It reached the #1 spot on the U.K. indie singles chart. The Staffordshire, England punk/hardcore band did not release anything on vinyl until 1980 despite having formed in 1977. They disbanded in 1987 but have performed since.
