On this date in 1982, Split Enz released their twenty-second single, "Six Months In A Leaky Boat". It was backed by "Make Sense Of It". Both tracks appeared on their seventh album, Time And Tide. The A side was banned by the BBC as they thought it referenced the controversial Falklands War (the band denied this). The single, however, was widely successful closer to home in Australia (they were from New Zealand) where it reached the #2 spot on the Australian singles chart. The power pop/new wave band disbanded in 1984.
