The Dickies - Banana Splits

On this date in 1979, The Dickies released their first EP Banana Splits. It was their sped-up version of the theme from a popular kids TV show. The two songs on the B side were "Hideous" and "Got It At The Store". They also released this as a standard single with "Sounds Of Silence" as the supporting track. None of these songs appeared on a studio album but all were added as bonus tracks when their debut, The Incredible Shrinking Dickies, was re-released on CD. Although they were from Los Angeles, their greatest success was overseas. This single reached the #7 spot on the U.K. singles chart. They are still performing.
