On this date in 1982, U2 released its seventh single, "A Celebration". It was backed by "Trash, Trampoline And The Party Girl". Neither side appeared on a regular album. The single reached the #47 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Dublin, Ireland new wave band became a hugely successful mainstream rock act by the mid-'80's.

About: The original Post Punk Progressive Pop Party (The P5) aired every Saturday night on 88.7FM WVHC (now WRHU) Radio Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Back in 1978, WVHC was among the first outlets (public or commercial) in the United States to promote what became the New Wave movement. This blog is a tribute to that show and all of the great music it exposed us to.
