On this date in 1982, Tears For Fears released their second single, "Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love)". It was backed by "The Prisoner". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, The Hurting. The single reached the #5 spot on the U.K. singles chart. The Bath, England new wave band was driven by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabel. Curt left the band in 1990 but returned in 2000. They are still active.

I loved The Hurting quite a bit, back in the day. I bought it and Soul Mining by The THE at the same time. I think they jumped the shark after the hurting, however, while The THE just got better.
Just my opinion.
That's a fair assessment, Uncle E. I can honestly say that Pale Shelter is my favorite Tears For Fears song and Uncertain Smile is my favorite The The song, though I like the 12" version better than the one on Soul Mining.
CHANGE!
Another great song but that is only my second favorite "Change"...to Killing Joke's "Change".
As a huge fan of this song, I would like to point out that the 1982 version of Pale Shelter that you are celebrating is different from the version heard on "The Hurting". Pale Shelter (You don't give me love) was produced by Mike Howlett and is a colder, darker and (for me) superior version. It's also alot harder to find, as I don't believe it's ever been released on CD. The original 12" can be found here:

It's well worth a listen!
That is absolutely true!
We will post that version later today.
Thanks.
