About: The original Post Punk Progressive Pop Party (The P5) aired every Saturday night on 88.7FM WVHC (now WRHU) Radio Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Back in 1978, WVHC was among the first outlets (public or commercial) in the United States to promote what became the New Wave movement. This blog is a tribute to that show and all of the great music it exposed us to.

Disclaimer: The P5 DOES NOT post music files online.
We simply link to the many great music blogs that already do.

Soft Cell - A Man Can Get Lost

On this date in 1981, Soft Cell released their debut single, "A Man Can Get Lost". It was backed by "Memorabilia". They also issued a 12 inch at the same time with "Memorabiliaa" as the A side and a different song, "Persuasion" as the B side. The singles did not chart. Both "Memorabilia" and "A Man Can Get Lost" would appear in remixed form on their second album, Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing, when it was released in 1982. Only there was a twist. The latter's song title changed to "A Man Could Get Lost" when on the album. The Leeds, England new wave band disbanded in 1984 but has gotten together again in recent years.
