About: The original Post Punk Progressive Pop Party (The P5) aired every Saturday night on 88.7FM WVHC (now WRHU) Radio Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Back in 1978, WVHC was among the first outlets (public or commercial) in the United States to promote what became the New Wave movement. This blog is a tribute to that show and all of the great music it exposed us to.

Disclaimer: The P5 DOES NOT post music files online.
We simply link to the many great music blogs that already do.

Graduate - Elvis Should Play Ska

On this date in 1980, Graduate released their second single, "Elvis Should Play Ska". It was backed by "Julie Julie". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Acting My Age. The Bath, England new wave band lasted five singles and two albums before disbanding in 1981. Two of the members made a name for themselves later. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith formed Tears For Fears.
