On this date in 1980, Discharge released their debut EP, Realities Of War. It contained "Realities Of War", "They Declare It", "But After The Gig" and "Society's Victim". Four songs clocking in at around five minutes total, none of which appeared on their first album, Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing. The Staffordshire, England punk/hardcore band did not release anything on vinyl until 1980 despite having formed in 1977. They disbanded in 1987 but have performed sporadically ever since.

About: The original Post Punk Progressive Pop Party (The P5) aired every Saturday night on 88.7FM WVHC (now WRHU) Radio Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. Back in 1978, WVHC was among the first outlets (public or commercial) in the United States to promote what became the New Wave movement. This blog is a tribute to that show and all of the great music it exposed us to.
