The Ruts - In A Rut

On this date in 1979, The Ruts released their debut single, "In A Rut". It was backed by "H-Eyes". The two tracks appeared on their second album, Grin & Bear It which was a compilation of single tracks and live performances that had not been captured on their debut, The Crack. The London reggae-influenced punk band released two albums before the heroin overdose death of lead singer Malcolm Owen on July 14, 1980. The renamed themselves Ruts D.C. and lasted until 1983.
