Kirsty MacColl - Desperate Character


On this date in 1981, Kirsty MacColl released her debut solo album, Desperate Character. While the album did not chart, a single from the album, "There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis", reached the #14 spot on the U.K. singles chart. She had previously been published as a member of British punk band, the Drug Addix, where she was known as Mandy Doubt. She also became a member of The Pogues. She died in a boating accident on December 18, 2000.
